About Us

On 10^th September 2019, the graduate of Environmental Resource Management, Faith Arroisa, on a mission to change Kenyans’ mindsets around celebrations – birthdays and weddings – founded an organization by the name Trees for Birthdays Initiative. She envisioned that over and above marking birthdays with cake-cutting and parties, friends could add tree-planting and estate clean-ups to their to-do lists.

After several months of operation, the initiative became more popular and was covering a larger scope beyond just birthdays and weddings hence the need to change its name. Trees for Birthdays Initiative therefore changed its name to Trees for Healthy Community Organization (THC) with a goal of creating environmental awareness through various projects with the youths, school going children and the community in the informal settlements.

This shift was brought forward by the little knowledge people in the informal settlements have on matters environmental conservation and sustainability.

Specific areas of focus for the organization include waste management, tree planting, health education, workshops and trainings.
